It seems like photography was destined to run in the family. Captured at Kensington Market by her son, Alex Delgado, 7, the photo features Diana Delgado sitting on a car in one of Toronto's most colourful neighbourhoods.
“We wanted to show that you could find good in discarded things. Like this car, you don’t need to fix it, you can make it into something special and express yourself.” Mexican-born and the mother of three boys, Diana has always used photography to empower her sons. “When we were living in a shelter, the only thing we had that was ours was my phone. When we took pictures, we felt happy and connected.”
