Andrew Pritchard
"The first time I saw this mural, it took me by surprise! The musician is in black and white, and then there is an explosion of musical notes and colour surrounding him," Andrew says. He is describing his photo of a mural on Queen Street, located just down the street from where he lives. "It shows the diversity of the city, and it’s connected to the history of Toronto."
When asked why he took this picture Andrew says, "It’s interesting to see artwork that normally would not be seen by the public, which is very important. Maybe people will go see the mural and find out if there are others done by the same artist."
Andrew grew up in Toronto, but he has lived in Ireland, Nepal and Western Canada. He draws and writes short stories. Some of his writing has been published on the Internet. After this contest, Andrew says he would like to "experiment with photography and possibly try painting as well."
