This photo, taken at the Harbourfront, represents what the photographer sees as the good side of Toronto: urban design that allows for moments of relaxation and social connection. "I love the Harbourfront because I was born and raised by the sea. So, when I see water, my eyes and spirit start glowing."
The photographer says, "Water is very strong, but it’s also very pliable. That’s why I chose it for Toronto. For any city, place or person to be flourishing, resilience is so important. When they fall down, they can pick themselves up. As people who have really experienced the downside, that’s strength."
The photographer also hopes the photo will encourage people to remember those who are struggling. "To everybody who has the time and money to relax, remember that one of your fellow citizens is not sitting. They’re fending for themselves every minute. Remember them. And do something."
