Peter Soares
Diversity
Regent Park
Taken at Regent Park, across from the garden plot which he tends to, Peter Soares described his photo of a pride flag on the back of a fire truck as "a symbol of a more diverse and accepting Toronto."
Peter would like others to realize that people who experience homelessness are not burdens on society but rather these individuals were once neighbours or co-workers who fell on hard times and with the right support, they could be productive members of the community.
Living at Seaton House since February 2017, this is the first time that Peter has been in the shelter system. Previously he was employed with a company that managed employee benefits and Employment Assistance Programs, which he enjoyed immensely.
